His & Hers Projects — Kitchen

Dark and cramped is an understatement when describing the original kitchen. By bumping out the back wall of the house three feet and incorporating the original coat closet into the kitchen, we were able to transform the room into a spacious, well-appointed kitchen fit for entertaining family and friends. The laundry room with auxiliary freezer and the exterior door to the deck and BBQ are easily accessed off the kitchen. The kitchen is outfitted with a suite of efficient appliances and a wide variety of convenience hardware to ensure the content of the cabinets comes to the cook, not the cook to the content. The kitchen island provides added workspace and a place for guests to gather without getting under foot. Under cabinet lighting, can lights, tubular skylights with internal light kits and a chandelier ensure that there is proper light for all tasks. The new connection to the dining room allows natural light to flow from the southern dining room windows towards the kitchen and facilitates homework supervision for this active grandmother.
