The Gathering Place

The original kitchen was ill conceived and did not meet the needs of it's owners who wanted to enjoy a multitude of culinary endeavors in their retirement. What started out as "I want new countertops" culminated in a full kitchen remodel converting this poorly ventilated and lit space into the gathering place for family and friends throughout the year. Winter mornings people gather around the fireplace while summer afternoons find the doors flung wide open to a sea scented breeze.

The code violating commercial range (installed by the previous homeowner) and non-functioning exhaust hood were replaced by a Thermador 48" Grand Pro Steam range and Thermador Pro awning hood, respectively. A Bosch dishwasher was installed in the island next to the sink. The sink and dishwasher on the back wall were eliminated, providing much desired storage and counter space.

The addition of the television allows the cooks to watch cooking shows as well as savor their coffee with the morning news.

"My wife and I have done a great deal of construction over the years, including remodels, room additions, damage restoration, and building a house from the ground up; we have had some good experiences and some that were not so good. The work proceeded according to the calendar, and she held the subs to their appointed days. If delays occurred , she worked tirelessly to get things back on schedule.
