A better way to greet the day
Bright blue faux marble laminate countertops, limited counter and storage space, Gerry rigged electrical, a heater you were 'afraid' to use, a cast iron tub that could not take one more 'refinishing' (on an ill-conceived platform) were just a few of the things wrong with this bathroom. The lack of proper sealing around the window along with the absence of a bathroom exhaust fan and lousy lighted rounded out this cobbled together bathroom. The challenges: a very tight budget, the entire house is paneled in luan plywood — a material that is no longer available in paneling and the fact that the all the wall perforations (door, window, electrical boxes, etc.) in this room were set for 1/4" material rather than standard 1/2" material and the size of the room was slightingly unusual at 60" in width by 91" in length. Solutions: reframe the bathroom floor to accommodate an ergonomic and safe tub installation, incorporate a new bathroom heater along with a properly vented exhaust fan, select a slim skirted toilet to give the room a spacious feel and fabricate new matching paneling to maintain the cottage look throughout the house.
"I love my new bathroom. This wonderful remodel has made my entire beach cottage feel so much nicer. It is a joy to use this room. I enjoyed working with Clive and Molly and their entire team on this project. Their attention to detail, design, quality of products, and professionalism far exceeded my expectations. Thank you!!!" ~ Jill K.
