What a difference 6" can make!
This compact home had a perfectly nice kitchen with one exception... the island was built too close to both the sink wall and the range wall rendering it a "one person" kitchen. The empty nester occupants found it difficult to be in the kitchen together because if you opened the dishwasher or the oven there was not enough room for anyone to get by. By moving the island 6" in two directions, the flow and ergonomics of the kitchen was immensely improved as is the couple's enjoyment of the kitchen together. The original cabinetry was preserved and enhanced by new countertops, appliances, backsplash, decorative cabinet hardware and under cabinet lighting.
